USFS awards HLVRCD $2.5 million for Post WildFire Recovery work in Lassen County, CA - 6/6/2022

The Honey Lake Valley Resource Conservation District (HLVRCD) received a $2.5 million grant from the USDA Forest Service to assist private forest landowners in much of Lassen County who were impacted by wildfires that occurred between 2019 and 2021. The grant funds will be used to implement a wildfire recovery program that will consist of outreach to forest landowners, landowner recruitment to participate in the program, removal of dead trees and planting of tree seedlings. “Assisting forest landowners recover their land following wildfire is important for the environment and an important service that the RCD can provide through this grant,” explained Jesse Claypool, Honey Lake Valley RCD Chair.
