Illegal Dumping Cleanup for Mendes Homesite in Lassen County Complete

Susanville, CA – In July 2019, Schroder, Inc. and associates worked to clean up approximately 3 acres of 122 acres total, that was found to be a significant site of illegal dumping in Lassen County.

The cleanup effort removed several discarded vehicles, appliances, household furniture, over 360 cubic yards of tires, and other debris. Following the removal phase, the site will be stabilized and restored.

The project was led by the Honey Lake Valley Resource Conservation District (RCD). The RCD secured a $50,000 state grant from CalRecycle’s Farm and Ranch Solid Waste Cleanup and Abatement Grant Program to help fund the cleanup project.

Furthermore, the RCD will continue this work with private landowners to implement an additional 3 CalRecycle Farm and Ranch Cleanup Grants to assist in the restoration of lands due to illegal dumping throughout Lassen County.
